What's the news?
American tyre manufacturer, Cooper Tires, has just released a new high performance tyre called the Zeon CS Sport. Designed to replace the Cooper Zeon 2XS tyre, the new CS Sport is an evolution that sees increases in the levels of grip on offer, but also incorporates a technology that is designed to decrease noise and increase fuel efficiency. The latter is achieved through reducing the rolling resistance of the tyre.
Cooper has incorporated varying sizes of shoulder blocks (the part nearest the outside of your tyre) that help to reduce the amount of noise generated by the tyre as it rolls, while the wider tread blocks help to disperse higher amounts of water, improving wet weather grip.
The Zeon CS Sport will be available in 17- to 19-inch rim sizes, all of which will come in W or Y speed ratings. The tyre is aimed at high-performance vehicles and should prove a good choice for road and track driving.
Anything else?
Cooper Tires has also just announced former Formula One driver and BBC F1 pundit David Coulthard as its new brand ambassador. The 42-year-old Scot has worked in the testing and development of the Zeon CS Sport tyre and will continue to be involved in the future development of other Cooper tyres.
The American tyre company is currently the fourth largest supplier of tyres in the United States and has production facilities in Melksham, England and also owns the Avon brand.
